Pity Tuesday

June 29, 2010

Hi!    I wrote this 20 years ago.

——————————————-

Seems then not so long ago

Back when you were you and I was me.

We both wondered what we’d come to be.

Countless days on end proposing what’s to come

Not asking for the world, only wanting some.

Finding out hard where it all comes from,

Didn’t think then it was all so dumb.

And here we are all in our special places,

Maybe not quite in our own spaces

Creating motions for the trial,

And things we haven’t thought of for a while.

Like when we used to smile.

( I need to start picking lottery numbers)

The lovely and talented Charlene sent me these lyrics today. Said they are from her current favorite song…

———

I haven’t been to church, since I don’t remember when.

Things were going great, til they fell apart again So I listened to the preacher, as he told me what to do He said “You can’t go hatin’ others who have done wrong to you, Sometimes we get angry but we must not condemn.

Let the good Lord do his job, you just pray for them.”

I pray your brakes go out runnin’ down a hill.

I pray a flower pot falls from a window sill, And knocks you in the head like I’d like to.

I pray your birthday comes and nobody calls.

I pray you’re flyin’ high when your engine stalls.

I pray all your dreams never come true.

Just know wherever you are, honey,

I pray for you.

I’m really glad I found my way to church.

Cause I’m already feelin’ better, and I thank God for the words.

Yeah, I’m gonna take the high road and do what the Preacher told me to do.

You keep messin’ up, and I’ll keep prayin’ for you.

I pray your tire goes out at 110.

I pray you pass out drunk with your best friend, And wake up with his and her tattoos.

Just know wherever you are, near or far, In your house or in your car, Wherever you are, honey, I pray for you.

 I pray for you.

 – A country song from a guy named Jaron.

To quote the wicked witch of the west, ” Ohhhh… what a world…..”

I’m just cranky today….   LOL

  1. I know that song! I saw it on youtube not so long ago and I cracked up!

  2. Love that song, though I’m not quite sure Jaron is truly “country.” Remember Evan and Jaron – Crazy for this Girl? One hit wonder… and definitely not country.

  3. Haha… I heard this song for the first time last night while Julia had one of her playlists going. I cracked up.
